Prior to joining the MedPharm US team I worked in the AG Biotech sector supporting crop science research.

My role within Performance Testing involves carrying out IVRT/IVPT performance tests, MedFlux experiments and various forms of method development. My involvement in various projects means that there is a consistent and stimulating workload which matches our ever expanding capabilities here at MedPharm.

MedPharm is a great company to work for and everyone is encouraged to make meaningful contributions in a fun, relaxed and cooperative environment. There is a strong emphasis on maintaining a healthy work-life balance along with many opportunities for career development.

Following university, I was looking for a new challenge and ways to develop on my experiences which led me to join MedPharm as a junior scientist within the Formulation Development department and have now progressed to working alongside study directors in a technical writing capacity.

In my short time here, I have learned a great deal about all aspects of early-stage topical product development and have started to build up new skills that enable me to achieve my career goals for the mutual benefit of myself and the company.

Due to the largely R&D nature of the majority of work that we do, there are a multitude of technical and organisational challenges that accompany working at MedPharm. However, such challenges present a real opportunity for personal and professional development for all members of staff and promote an open-minded and comradely company culture. If you want to learn, grow and progress in a hard-working and passionate environment, MedPharm is right for you.

From picking up on the cohesion and enthusiasm during my first interview, I absolutely knew that I wanted to become a part of the MedPharm team. I specifically work within the tissue culture department running activity assays, but I also help the performance testing department with skin penetration studies and the analytical department with method development.

My varied role is one of the main reasons I enjoy coming to work each day as it enables me to build experience in different areas of early pharmaceutical R&D, a work environment that is perfect for a recent graduate such as myself. This inclusivity has given me a better understanding of MedPharm as a whole so that I’m not just going through the motions of laboratory bench work day to day.

At MedPharm my role utilises my proficiency in Performance Testing methodology; these include but are not limited to IVRT and MedFlux testing.

I chose to work at MedPharm because of the culture and atmosphere. The work environment is collaborative, exciting and flexible. Although the work is important and at times fast-paced, it has always been a fun work environment.

I joined straight out of University, keen to learn and experience the world of R&D and MedPharm swiftly allowed me to hit the ground running. I’ve had the change to advance my knowledge and gain new skills in a wide range of areas but I still feel as though I have barely scratched the surface! The company is always ready to embrace and teach young scientists and the culture is upbeat and energetic, with a wide range of social activities planned and a good atmosphere amongst employees.

Every day presents an exciting challenge, from time management to trouble shooting results; I am constantly developing and learning skills to make sure I produce good results. MedPharm has a wealth of knowledge to give and it’s a great place to be, learn and develop.

Having joined MedPharm with 3 years’ prior experience in a similar role I was well equipped for this position. Following 6 months working with the Formulation Development team to understand what MedPharm does I was ready to take on my own projects as a Study Director.

As a Study Director at MedPharm I am responsible for the management of a range of projects from early stage formulation development to GMP manufacture of products for use in clinical trials. This involves regular communication with clients’, data review, preparation of formal updates and reports as well as liaising with each department in order to ensure that projects remain on schedule, whilst maintaining high standards of quality.

I decided to work at MedPharm as I wanted to be part of a small but ambitious company where you can make a difference that will be recognised. I also like that we produce tangible products that can one day go on to help people with a variety of conditions. The environment at MedPharm is fast- paced, challenging but never boring; working here will sharpen your mind and train your problem solving abilities. There are many opportunities to progress for people who look for them and are willing to learn. If you can keep a cool head and have a confident, positive outlook you will likely be successful here.
